Play. Contribute. Help shape a game.
A free Play account lets you save your progress, choose an avatar and apply to test games. No level requirement. The optional Inner Circle is a free monthly letter with game news and calls for testers. It doesn’t give testing access by itself (apply on a game’s card), and joining it earns no XP.
XP and avatars
Finish a full Age of Pericles game: 10 XP, up to two games a day. Your first finished game ever adds 50 XP, and your first finished game of each week adds 30 XP; missing a week costs nothing. Visiting the site earns no XP. Submit a useful bug report, a text correction with replacement wording, or useful feedback: 50 XP after manual approval. Duplicate or unusable reports earn no XP.
Your level and next avatar collection appear on your account. Avatar collections unlock at Level 1 (Mortals), 5 (Demigods), 7 (Titans), 9 (Olympians) and 10 (Throne of Olympus). Earlier collections stay available. Existing tutorial, survey and other achievement rewards continue.
Workshop testing
Choose a game and apply for Alpha, Beta or either. Applications are open for every Workshop game. Tamás personally approves testers for the seats available and the experience the game needs. Applying never gives private access automatically. Your XP level and email subscription do not grant testing access.
Earn the released digital game
Play ten full games of the game you are testing and submit one useful report for each. Once Tamás accepts all ten session reports, you earn a free copy of that game’s released digital edition on one supported platform. Wins and losses count equally; honest criticism is welcome. There is no weekly deadline for this reward. Your account tracks submitted and accepted sessions.
For Age of Pericles, the reward is the planned full Steam or tablet game. The free browser version is a slice. This ten-game reward covers the base digital game; the additional Alpha benefits below still apply.
Beta
You get: access to the selected game’s test builds, a release credit and Bronze Laurel after at least one play and one useful report, plus priority for vacant Alpha seats.
Alpha
You get: each build first, a private channel with Tamás, a vote on open design questions, and double weight in the monthly next-game priority vote. Alpha testers skip the Beta queue when applying for other games; available seats still determine admission.
Finish your Alpha commitment: earn the tested digital game and all its future DLC for life on one chosen platform. Where the base game is already free, the reward applies to paid add-ons if any are released. This covers digital access; physical products are separate.
The commitment: play and report on each new build within 7 days; vote on design questions within 7 days. One notified skip per game is allowed. Two consecutive or three total missed commitments without notice can cost your seat, after a reminder and Tamás’s review. Completed rewards stay yours.
Testers must be 16 or older and keep private builds private. Selection and the start of your commitment are confirmed with your invitation.
